slipping and sliding

Dear Friends,

Hi!

We made it into Lubango yesterday BUT it took us 6 1/2 hours instead of the
usual 4!! It rained most of the way - there was quite a bit of slipping and
sliding.

The funeral was at the noon hour - there were masses of people - Sr.
Fernando was well known and the words used to describe his life were dynamic
and generous. The priest who did the service did a very good job of telling
of the hope we have through the death and resurrection of Christ. This is
the 4 death in the Portuguese/Angolan farming community - pray for hearts to
seek and search for the real meaning of life!

We are going to the coast tomorrow to spend the weekend camping in the sun
and sand - it will be a much welcome rest. On Monday the kids will return
to Lubango with friends. Stir and I will stay go on into the port town of
Namib to hopefully get the container out of customs. Please pray that
things would go well & quickly with officials and paperwork - we're always
anxious to get back to Tchincombe!

THANKS again for your participation in this ministry through your giving and
praying!!

good news and sad news!

Yesterday we had good news and this morning we had sad news!

Yesterday we heard that the new vehicle is in port and that the clearing
agent has the documents and we should be able to the vehicle transported
from the port to Lubango on Monday!!! YEAH!!! Last night for various
reasons of work related issues we were in a quandary as to what day it would
be best to go to Lubango.

This morning sad news reached us and decided our trip to Lubango. Our
friend, Sr. Fernando Borge died early this morning. He has been struggling
with cancer for some time. So . . . . we go to Lubango today as the funeral
will be late this afternoon or tomorrow. Pray for his family.

An exciting opportunity is coming our way - the possibility of having
internet at Tchincombe!!! MAF is needing to import some updated equipment
for their satellite internet equipment and we can put an order for a
separate unit for us with their order - this well allow us to share
transport costs. It's good timing for us in that Jeffrey is doing some of
his school via internet. The cost of the total system will be about 2000
Euros - pray as we seek to sort out the funding for this equipment!!

We are still needing about $11,000 toward finishing the vehicle that's
arriving as well so if you'd pray for these things we would appreciate it!!!

Little Jamie has been transferred to a pediatric intensive care unit but
thankfully is in stable condition. The hospital has facilities so that the
whole family live close by - so that will help with the overall stress of
the family being separated.

On the road again!

Love,
Donna for all of us!

Greetings from Tchincombe!

Greetings from Tchincombe! We continue to have rain almost everyday - we
are grateful!!

Notes of Praise!
*We are thankful that Stir's back is feeling better
*The documents for 4X4 should arrive in Lubango today and go to port
tomorrow
* We have lined up the sale of a lot of steers for the 15th of this month
*Two young men have started as apprentices in carpentry with Paulo
*The workshop walls for machine shop and garage are going up
*****Mena and José Zeferino DO NOT HAVE AIDS or syphilis!!! After the
positive test that Mena had she and her husband went to the government post
for confirmatory test and it was negative! Then she started her
menstruation - she was supposed to be pregnant according to the first round
of tests. On further conversation with her it turns out that on the day of
her original tests there was a confusion between her and another woman at
the laboratory. This past week we had Mena's tests all done again at the
same lab and they were indeed negative!!! Both Mena and her husband are
greatly relieved!! It's like someone giving you the death sentence and then
rescinding it! Please pray for the other woman out there - whoever she may
be- she's positive for AIDS and syphilis and pregnant but thinks she's
negative.

Please continue to pray for little Jamie - it turns out he had
Para-influenza, went home apparently well on the road to recovery; had a
bout of diarrhea and vomiting seemed to be recuperating and NOW another bout
of respiratory distress - docs believe he has had influenza - this poor
family has had a rough time! Here are their current requests:

"We really don’t know how to ask you to pray for Jamie. The situation is
this.
His overall condition is deteriorating. His struggles to breathe are having
a seriously debilitating effect and he is getting more and more tired. As
he tires his breathing gets less efficient and he needs more and more
oxygen.

The doctors are beginning to feel that he needs specialist equipment which
is not available at the Royal Berks so efforts are being made to find what
is needed in another hospital. The doctors have mentioned Oxford or Great
Ormond Street in London as possibilities. Either would remove Penny and
Jamie from the more immediate support of the family but if the specialist
unit is necessary that would have to be a secondary consideration.

Perhaps all we can say is that we must ask the Lord to show us how to pray.
He knows what He is doing. The reason He doesn’t always tell us is that He
wants us to trust Him. That is not always easy!

The preferred option would be for Jamie to recover enough strength so that
he can benefit from the treatment he is being given at the Royal Berks.

There is also the need to pray for:
• Penny, who is in the front line of the action
• Paul, who in heroic fashion and with endless patience is taking
care of Sam
• Sam who is badly missing his mother
• The whole family who again find themselves in the wringer.

From Tchincombe THANKS SO MUCH FOR CEASELESS prayers on behalf of ourselves,
our friends and for His work here at Tchincombe!

With Love,
Donna

A BIG THANKS

Hello Again!

A BIG THANKS to all of you who have written to encourage Meghan! The
tendency for all of us is to shut our heart to avoid pain - in the long run
it just brings more pain. Thanks for sharing your experiences and for
helping Meghan know that she is not alone!

Love,
Donna for all of us!

GPS coordinates for Tchincombe

Hello Dear Friends,

We find ourselves in Lubango this week hoping to get our new 4X4 out of port
and customs. We hope to receive the documents from Luanda today or early
tomorrow (PRAY to this end) – then we’ll have to run the documents to the
clearing agent at the port of Namibe. After it is cleared a truck must go
down to bring the container up here to have if off loaded. It’s not likely
we’ll get it all done this week but if we can get the documents to the port
that will start the final process of FINALLY getting the vehicle!!

Here are the GPS coordinates for Tchincombe if any of you want to find us at
Google Earth:

S 15º 50’ 54.6”
E 14º 41’ 01.9”

Church at Imbondwe went VERY WELL! There were 30 people on top of the 12
that we made up as a team. There was a sweet, welcoming spirit and Steve
preached a great message! Begin to pray for the meetings the last weekend
of March.

Continue to pray for 5 month old Jamie – he had had double pneumonia, got
better, went home but started at home with vomiting and diarrhea – there’s
fear of a him having picked up a hospital ‘bug’. I understand he’s stopped
vomiting at least but has lost quite a lot of weight through all of this and
doesn’t have much appetite.

Continue to pray for buyers for the cattle so that we can buy the fencing!!

Pray too for Stirling who has been experiencing discomfort in his back.
Until Friday he just had twinges but on Friday after traveling in car is
right leg was bothering as well.

Pray for Meghan as her Dutch friend, Ilena, left today to return to
Holland. Through her tears this morning Meghan said, ‘There’s no point in
making friends as they just leave’.

We thank you for standing in gap in prayer!!!!
Love,
Donna for all of us!
